Project Coordinator – Awutu Senya
As project coordinator for Operation Eyesight, Dora Ewusi organizes and supervises all activities of the Hospital-Based Community Eye Health Project (HBCEHP) in the Awutu Senya District of Ghana. She is responsible for monitoring project action plans and progress, as well as ensuring that data and information is collected, stored and shared in a timely manner. She is also responsible for building the capacities of primary eye care workers and oversees this team’s work pertaining to the HBCEHP project. She forms and strengthens community-based organizations and supports them in delivering results related to improving community eye health as per the project’s objectives.
Dora holds a degree in Social Work from the University of Ghana and has expertise in advocacy, community development, capacity building, data collection and storage, gender equality, safeguarding, child protection, disability inclusion, stakeholder and community engagement.
She joined Operation Eyesight from the Ghana Red Cross Society, where she was the Safeguarding, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Disability Inclusion advisor. In this role, she played a key liaison role and was responsible for engaging district-level stakeholders to ensure that beneficiaries are protected from abuse and have access to district assembly interventions. Dora has volunteered with University of Ghana Hospital as a Child Welfare Assistant where she assisted community health nurses to conduct home visits and distribute health items. She has also interned with the Social Welfare Department of the South Municipal assembly, as a social development officer where she assisted social development officers to provide social relief services to the vulnerable.
