Country Director
Emmanuel Kwasi Kumah is an accomplished development practitioner with over 20 years of work experience across the fields of livelihood, education and health.
A laureate of the West African Health Organisation, Emmanuel holds a Master of Development Management Degree, Bachelor of Education Degree, Bachelor of Laws Degree, Professional Law Certificate and Certificate in Management Essentials for Success in Vision 2020.
Emmanuel joined Operation Eyesight in 2010 as Ghana Project Officer. In November 2013, he was promoted to Ghana Country Manager, then subsequently to Ghana Country Director for the organization in January 2022. Emmanuel has interned with the West African Health Organisation and Population Council, both in Bobo-Dioulasso and Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Emmanuel also interned with the Office of the Legal Counsel – University of Ghana – Legon.
Emmanuel has successfully worked with and delivered on several USAID-funded quality improvement education projects across Ghana and was a Freelance Consultant for Volunteer Service Overseas, Ghana, Cadbury Cocoa Partnership Programme.
As our lead, Emmanuel has continued to work with various stakeholders, including Ghana Health Service, Ghana Education Service, Ophthalmic Nursing School, Standard Chartered Bank, USAID Child Blindness Programme and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) in proffering local solutions that improve eye health service delivery in Ghana.
Emmanuel sees attitude as everything and is an ardent soccer fan.
“The fact that the support Operation Eyesight offers brings back smiles on the faces of beneficiaries when they can see again or see better makes me love the work I do,” he says.
