Chair, Innovations & Programmes Committee

Kamal Buttar, born and raised in Calgary, completed her bachelors degree in Nursing from Mount Royal University. A Registered Nurse with Alberta Health Services, she works on the hematology/oncology & MTU unit at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Kamal believes that everyone, regardless of their personal circumstances, should be treated with compassion and should have access to basic healthcare. It is this value that first drew her to Operation Eyesight in June 2019.

“I believe that people are innately connected to one other and we operate as a whole within the universe. Operation Eyesight Universal is improving the quality of life for many individuals and providing an effective platform to increase the reach of our compassion and responsibility to each other. As a nurse, I see first hand the need for care and by having the opportunity to work with the OEU team, I am able to be a modest part of a much larger and permanent impact on my fellow human beings.”

Kamal Buttar has also volunteered with the Calgary Humane Society, Dashmesh Culture Centre, Sikh Youth Group and Calgary Regional Health Authority. She is fluent in English, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.
