In March 2021, Kashinath (Kash) became the President & CEO after 11 years with Operation Eyesight. With over 30 years of humanitarian and international experience, he brings extensive leadership and expertise in international program development, implementation and advocacy.
He first joined our team as Senior Director of India in 2009, spearheading the development of what has become our flagship model of Hospital-Based Community Eye Health. His dedication and proven success have advanced his career at Operation Eyesight through progressively more senior roles, as he has served as Global Director of Programs and Vice President of International Programs and is now at the helm of the organization.
Kashinath has been integral to our growth and the impact we are creating in the communities we serve. Under his leadership, we have expanded our programs, increased the number of countries we work in from four to eight, and successfully launched programs based on our adapted Hospital-Based Community Eye Health Program model in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Kashinath also introduced and formalized our policy on quality and led our team in pursuing fundraising activities in our countries of work.
Kashinath has held leadership positions with Save the Children UK and Action Aid France and brings decades of experience working effectively in close collaboration with civil society, government and other partner agencies. He has extensive post-graduate training, teaching and research experience, and is a published author. His qualifications include post-graduate degrees in science and technology for development (India) and regional development planning and management (Thailand and Germany).
Kashinath serves on the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) Board of Trustees and was recognized as an Eye Health Leader by IAPB in 2013.
Kashinath and his wife, Sujata, will soon be relocating from Hyderabad, India to Calgary, Canada.
