Vikas Gora

Global Director – International Programmes

Based in Hyderabad, India, Mr. Vikas Gora oversees and manages all aspects of our programmes across our Asian and African countries of work. Under his leadership, our country programmes teams promote avoidable blindness-free communities/regions in line with our global strategy.

Vikas is a seasoned development professional with 23 years of experience in programme management, integrated development, child rights, humanitarian response, community health, education, policy advocacy, inter-agency coordination, organizational development and human security work.

He holds a Master of International Studies (Peace & Conflict Resolution) from The University of Queensland (Australia) as a Rotary World Peace Fellow of The Rotary Foundation. He also has a Master of Arts in Social Work from Nagarjuna University (India). He holds diplomas in Community Development from Coady International Institute, St. Francis Xavier University (Canada) and People’s Diplomacy & Non-Violence from the International Institute of Peoples’ Institutions for Peace, The University of Trento (Italy).

Before joining Operation Eyesight in November 2021, Vikas was the Deputy Director – Programme and Policy, South India with Save the Children, and he has held several senior leadership positions with grassroots NGOs, coalitions, corporate, and national and international organizations. He started his career with Arthik Samata Mandal as a Program Documentation & Support Manager and later worked with CARE India; Child Rights & You (CRY); Coady International Institute, Canada; The University of Queensland, Australia; Sphere India; Christian Aid; JMJ Associates Middle East; etc. in various capacities.

The House of Commons, Canada has issued him a Certificate of Recognition of Outstanding Contribution as a Volunteer of the Canadian Crossroads International.The Rotary Foundation, USA has also recognized him as an outstanding Peace Fellow.
