Currently, far too many people are living with vision loss that could be prevented or treated, impacting their quality of life. Today, 1.1 billion people are affected, a number projected to rise to 1.8 billion by 2050 without greater investment in eye health. Yet 90 per cent of vision loss is avoidable and can often be prevented or treated with simple, cost-effective care such as an eye exam, prescription eyeglasses or cataract surgery.
