Elizabeth Roden is an accomplished communicator with a passion for international development and intercultural communication. She joined the Operation Eyesight family in 2014 as our Donor Communications Specialist and now leads our Communications team from Calgary. She’s held a variety of marketing and communications roles in the post-secondary education, agency and not-for-profits sectors.
Elizabeth has an undergraduate degree in public relations from Mount Royal University and an MA in Intercultural and International Communication from Royal Roads University. Her master’s research, supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, analyzed how international eye health NGOs represent the issue of avoidable blindness.
Elizabeth is a member of both the International Association for Business Communicators and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness’ Gender Equity Work Group. She previously served on the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation’s Board of Directors.
Born and raised in small-town Alberta, Elizabeth now considers herself a Calgarian and global citizen. As a new mom, Elizabeth places high value on family, health and education, and setting an example – for her daughter and others – of how we can truly make a difference in our global community.
In 2019, Elizabeth was recognized as one of the “Top 30 Under 30” by the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation.
